Camilla Parker Bowles was very different before she joined the royal family.

The Duchess of York is among the most sophisticated royals today. However, she lived a different life before she married Prince Charles, according to Good Housekeeping.

Camilla was a tomboy

The duchess grew up in a royal company. She was living a luxury life in a $2 million 5.7-acre estate in Sussex. However, she was not that lady-like growing up.

Camilla was reportedly a tomboy who loved hunting and having fun. She also had her fair share of naughtiness.

When Camilla was 10-year-old she reportedly walked into the classroom and said, "My great-grandmother was the lover of the king. We're practically royalty."

Camilla was fired from her first job

According to Imogen Taylor, Camilla's co-worker at the decorating firm Colefax and Fowler, the duchess worked there in the mid-1960s. However, she was fired for coming in late after partying the night before. However, Taylor puts the blame on their boss and his notorious temper.

Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles

Camilla and Prince Charles' affair was short-lived. In 1973, she married Andrew Parker Bowles while the Prince of Wales was thousands of miles away. Camilla and Andrew have two children, Tom and Laura. The publication noted that due to Camilla's "party girl" behavior and low social standing, Prince Charles was pressured to look for another woman to marry.

"Lovely for you two to have a fling, but this absolutely cannot end in marriage," Prince Charles' great-uncle, Lord Mountbatten, reportedly advised Prince Charles about Camilla.

Prince Charles and Camilla reconciled

The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall realized that they still love each other. Their respective marriage ended in divorce. However, the public had a hard time accepting Camilla as their sympathy was in Princess Diana. Even Queen Elizabeth II reportedly disapprove of their relationship.

Prince Charles and Camilla eventually got married on April 9, 2005, and become the Duchess of Cornwall. There were rumors that Prince William and Prince Harry don't get along well with her, but the Duke of Sussex denied this and even pointed out their great relationship.

"To be honest, she's always been very close to me and William," Prince Harry said. "She's not a wicked stepmother. Look at the position she's coming into. Don't feel sorry for me and William, feel sorry for her."
