“Guardians of the Galaxy” fans will recognize Djimon Hounsou’s Korath as one of the villains who tired to steal the power stone for Thanos. However, in the 90s-set “Captain Marvel,” he’ll be one of the hero’s teammates.

The March movie will pick up with Carol/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) after she has already settled into life in space, Entertainment Weekly revealed. She is a part of Starforce, a special military team on a Kree planet called Hala. Along with Captain Marvel and Korath, the team also includes Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan), another villain from the comics, and the photos also reveal that fellow “Guardians of the Galaxy” villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), is a respected member of society (though he is also “an outcast with extremist views”).

Does this mean Captain Marvel is on the wrong team? The short answer is probably. According to Marvel Database, Starforce is actually an enemy of the Avengers. When the Kree were at war with the Shi’ar, The Supreme Intelligence created the Starforce as a group of beings with superpowers. The Kree leader used Starforce to help in its mission to let a negabomb kill most of the Kree population on Hala, leaving only a few survivors with altered DNA that would help the Kree race evolve.

Captain Marvel was never a part of Starforce in the comics, and working for a team that’s evil doesn’t sound very heroic. She likely won't be on the team for long. Perhaps that’s why she heads back to Earth.

EW revealed that Carol will be back on Earth with a sudden need to investigate her past, in which she was an Air Force pilot. While there, she’ll also have to fight the Skrulls, shapeshifters who are sure to have evil plans.

This new revelation about the Starforce also explains the costume choices. Earlier this year, photos surfaced of Larson filming “Captain Marvel” in the green and black outfit. Fans wondered if that meant her red, gold and blue uniform would be saved for later. However, it seems the black and green is simply the Starforce uniform. It looks like Carol will simply change the colors of her costume at some point in the action film. She is pictured in the red and blue on the cover of EW, which hits newsstands Friday.

“Captain Marvel” hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
