ABC is ready to give “Castle” fans a double dose of Kate (Stana Katic) and Rick (Nathan Fillion). Season 8 of the crime-solving drama returned Monday after a couple month long hiatus, and now, viewers will be treated to a special episode on Valentine’s Day.

Episode 10, titled “Witness For the Protection,” will air on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 10 p.m. EST. But a Valentine’s Day airdate doesn’t mean that fans are in store for a romantic storyline.

The synopsis teases that Rick will be forced to head to court where he’ll take the stand as a “key witness to a murder from five months ago.” New information will come to light, and Rick and Kate will have to “race against the clock to prevent a miscarriage of justice.”

This latest installment for “Castle” will actually be a first for the long running series. While Rick and Kate have taken down a number of criminals since the show’s premiere in 2009, an episode has not taken place in a courtroom.

“I think it will be a treat for our longtime fans,” series co-showrunner Terence Pail Winter explained to TVLine in January. “It refers to several things that have happened in the last few years.”

And of course, “Castle” viewers should expect the same unpredictability that they’ve come to love about Rick. Co-showrunner Alexi Hawley added that Rick’s testimony will go “sideways” and force him and Kate to do some “damage control.”

Based on the promo video for episode 10, we’d have to say that Kate saw this coming! “Be charming, but not too charming,” she tells her husband in the preview for episode 10.

“That’s like asking Superman not to be too super,” he fires back.

Fortunately, Sunday’s episode doesn’t mean that there won’t be a new one on Monday. Episode 11, titled “Dear Red,” will air at “Castle’s” normal 10 p.m. EST time slot on ABC. Rick and Kate will continue to keep their relationship a secret as they track down LokSat.
