Catholic University of America president John Garvey said that he has tested postive for COVID-19, Thursday.

In Garvey's statement reported in a FOX 5 DC article, he had been on quarantine since March 13 and has been coordinating with their family doctor and the D.C. Department of Health who are advising him, including taking precaution because even though he no longer has the symptoms, he could still be a carrier, therefore, he would be isolating himself to comply with CDC guidelines.

He added that he already informed those people whom he had been in contact with recently and he will keep them updated of his following test results.

"This news may be concerning to many on campus," he said. "We have been taking every precaution to stop the spread of COVID-19 in its tracks including moving all classes online, shutting down our residence halls for the semester, cancelling all athletics games and practices, and giving broad permissions for employees to work from home."

Garvey has been president of the Catholic University since 2010.
