Cedric the Entertainer spoke about the 2021 Emmy Awards as he prepares to host the annual awards show for the first time Sunday.

“It’s an honor to be the guy that’s in charge—you know, running the post,” he said in an interview with People Wednesday. “I’m the Tom Brady of this joint,” he joked, adding that those involved in the show “have to sign an NDA.” He also teased a big dance number featuring lots of celebrities and his signature comedy for the big night.

“The way they did the show, I get to have maybe five minutes upfront, but then I’m going to sneak in some other stuff. I’m already like, ‘Look, I gotta get my jokes off, man,” he told the outlet.

He also joked about bantering with celebrities in the audience except one female celebrity, whom he considers off-limits when it comes to his humor. “Is Betty White gonna be there? That’s the only person that I would not go in on,” he quipped. “Everybody else is gonna get it.”

Cedric the Entertainment revealed his plan to bring his sense of style to the stage. He said viewers can expect him to wear at least three to four hats throughout the evening. “We got a whole hat cart coming in,” he said. “I plan on having a little fun with it.”

The 2021 Emmy Awards will feature a limited in-person live audience that consists of nominees and their guests. Back in 2020, the show was held virtually as the COVID-19 pandemic peaked at several states in the U.S.

Despite his limited audience, Cedric the Entertainer said in a previous interview with People that he would still give his all in his hosting gig.

“It just feels like, almost in a way, like the re-coming out, because after COVID, everything was virtual and now, they have kind of reduced the size of it,” he said. “At first we were going back to the big, magnificent, fancy night were it’s the night of the stars. And it’s still going to be great. But with COVID, we reduced the size down.”

The 2021 Emmy Awards will air live Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
