NBC’s “Chicago Med” premiered an emotional episode this week in which Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) suffered a tragic loss. His mentor, a renowned doctor who is highly respected in her field, died unexpectedly. Tragedy often brings people closer and episode 18 of Season 2 hinted that Will may be getting closer to Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).

Will and Natalie certainly shared a very intimate hug that his girlfriend saw.

What will happen next week on “Chicago Med?”

The hospital staff will be faced with myriad hurdles when someone hacks their system and demands a ransom, according to the official synopsis. In Season 2, episode 19, all systems used by the staff are shut down and this forces doctors to diagnose patients without the aid of technology. Good luck docs!

Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), the Gaffney Medical Center’s administrator, is obviously stressed about the whole situation. She struggles to keep the hospital afloat. Dr. Daniel Charles’ (Oliver Platt) daughter Robyn (Mekia Cox) demands that they just pay the ransom amount in the promo. “It’s not that simple,” Goodwin tells her.

Speaking of a stressed Goodwin, things get worse for her when her ex-husband Bert (Greg Alan Williams) unexpectedly visits her at the hospital. However, he doesn’t come alone. He brings his new girlfriend (Garcelle Beauvais) along.

Most doctors will have to use their skill, instincts and intuition to help them treat patients due to the absence of technology. Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) and Noah (Roland Buck III) rely on their experience in the navy to locate a bullet inside a patient who is wheeled in to the hospital after he gets shot.

Although Manstead (Natalie and Will) is going strong, trouble brews for another couple. Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) worries about Robyn’s unusual behavior. The executive producers of “Chicago Med,” Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, told TVLine that happy days for this couple are numbered. They will face new challenges in the upcoming episodes of Season 2.

“Chicago Med” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
