Brie Larson is about to make her debut as a superhero in March’s “Captain Marvel,” but she got a little advice from Captain America actor Chris Evans about superhero fame: pretend it’s not happening to her.

An InStyle interview with Larson by comic book editor Sana Amanat explains Evans’ words of wisdom. “He told her that he viewed the hoopla surrounding the role (billboards! superfans! merch!) as if it were ‘happening to someone else,’ ” the profile reveals.

That means all the Captain Marvel action figures and t-shirts with her face aren’t an achievement for Larson. “I don’t think, ‘Look, that’s me!’ I think, ‘Oh, that’s odd,’ ” she told the magazine.

Evans has been vocal about his support for the Academy Award winner, even before she was officially announced as Captain Marvel. When she was the rumored choice for the role in June 2016, the Steve Rogers actor expressed his enthusiasm at Wizard World Philadelphia.

“I just heard about that,” he told the audience (via ComicBook.com). “I really hope that happens. I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09. We did ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.’ I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.”

More recently, Evans has promoted a campaign to send young girls from Girls Inc. of Greater Los Angeles to see “Captain Marvel” in March.

“Captain Marvel” introduces Carol Danvers, a human who is now a Kree warrior. She returns to Earth to learn more about her past and put an end to the war between the Kree and Skrulls.

The origin story takes place in the 1990s, but Carol will be brought into the present eventually. “Avengers: Infinity War” ended with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) paging her. That means she’ll appear in “Avengers: Endgame” in April, just over a month after her solo movie hits theaters.

“Captain Marvel” flies into theaters on March 8.
