  • Chappelle asked Rock if Smith's slap hurt him
  • Rock said Smith showed his true color when he hit him at Oscars

Chris Rock called Will Smith as "just as ugly as the rest of us." The comedian made the shocking remark during a jam-packed show at Liverpool's M&S Arena when Dave Chappelle asked him about the controversial Oscars slapgate.

Chappelle asked Rock if Smith's slap hurt him. The "Everybody Hates Chris" narrator responded to his co-comedian's cheeky question.

"Goddamn right ... the motherf–ker hit me over a bulls–t joke, the nicest joke I ever told. Will did the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped his mask off and showed us he was as ugly as the rest of us. Whatever the consequences are ... I hope he doesn't put his mask back on again and lets his real face breathe. I see myself in both men," Chris Rock said.

"The Chris Rock Show" host referred to the scandalous incident at the 2022 Academy Awards in March, when Will Smith, who later was announced as the Best Actor for the "King Richard" movie, hit Rock in the face after making a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith's baldness.

Most, if not all, fans are aware that Pinkett-Smith is suffering from alopecia. The "Red Table Talk" host was seen rolling her eyes when she heard Chris Rock calling her "G.I. Jane," which provoked her husband to storm on stage, slap Rock and shriek swearwords once seated.

Will Smith offered an apology the day after the Academy Awards. "I was out of line, and I was wrong. I am embarrassed, and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness," the "Independence Day" actor penned in a message shared on social media.

In July, the husband of Jada Pinkett-Smith also addressed Chris Rock in a clip uploaded on YouTube. "I reached out to Chris, and the message that came back is he's not ready to talk, but when he is, he will reach out. I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk," Will Smith said in the video.

The slapping incident involving Chris Rock and Smith led to the latter's resignation from the Academy. The "Aladdin" star was also banned from all the organization's events in the next 10 years.
