A plethora of major events are being canceled or postponed all around the world due to the life-threatening coronavirus. From movie premieres to big business summits, the deadly disease has forced everyone to avoid doing or attending any large public gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus.

The latest brand to cancel one of its major events is none other than Gucci, the famous fashion brand. In a press release obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, the luxury brand revealed it is canceling the cruise 2021 fashion show that was scheduled to take place in San Francisco in May of this year.

The statement further added that a new location for the fashion show will be decided soon, once the situation gets better. A spokesperson for the Italian luxury brand concluded by saying that their thoughts are with the people who have been affected by the deadly disease.

“A decision on the new timing and location of the show will be announced at a later date, once the situation becomes clearer. At this time, our thoughts are with all of those affected around the world,” the statement read.

Apart from Gucci, another renowned brand, Ralph Lauren, has made the decision to drop this year’s fall show as a precautionary measure. According to WWD, the fashion line’s primary focus is to take care of its employees and that is why the star-studded show has been canceled. It is yet to be decided if the organization is planning to announce a new date for the event.

“In light of the ongoing uncertainties related to the novel coronavirus around the world, we have decided to cancel our fall 2020 show as a precautionary measure and out of respect for our teams, partners and consumers. Our primary focus remains on their health and safety,” the company’s statement read.

Other major brands like Prada and Giorgio Armani also announced that they are planning to cancel or postpone a variety of their events due to COVID-19. Giorgio Armani live-streamed one of its runway shows on its website and social media platforms.

These events have now joined the ever-growing lists of major functions that have been either canceled or postponed after seeing the consequences of the virus. Big organizations like Adobe, Facebook, and Google have called off their annual conferences due to the rising cases of coronavirus in the U.S. The annual event of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was also axed this year when companies like LG, Sony, Amazon, Facebook, Nvidia, and many others pulled out from the event.

On the other hand, the promotional tour of James Bond’s upcoming film “No Time To Die” and the shooting of “Mission: Impossible 7” have either been scrapped or postponed because of the outbreak.

According to reports, more than 3000 people have died across the globe after fighting it out with the disease. Italy has now seen 79 deaths while South Korea has now recorded more than 5,000 cases of coronavirus.
