Daft Punk is best known for its catchy electronic music and unusual way of releasing quality music. With the duo's recent disbandment, we look at their road to stardom and the net worths they've established over their 28-year-long career.

Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter formed the iconic group in 1993 in Paris, France. The duo would soon change the landscape of the house music in the 1990s and beyond. However, on Monday, Daft Punk announced their break up in a video posted on their Youtube page.

Daft Punk released their debut album “Homework” in 1997. The work would soon define their mark in the music industry. The album featured iconic songs “Around the World” and “Da Funk.” However, it was not until 2001 when the duo caught the eyes of the world. Daft Punk promoted their second album “Discovery” wearing their now well-known trademark robot outfits. “Discovery” made the duo global music superstars after its singles “One More Time” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” topped song charts all over the world, Pitchfork reported.

The duo continued making waves in the eletronic music scene in the 2010s with the release of their album “Random Access Memories” in 2013. The Grammy-winning album saw them pairing with music giants Pharell Williams and Niel Rodgers for the hit song “Get Lucky.”

Daft Punk is also known for composing songs for a long list of musicians. They lent their hand in the creation of the soundtrack for the film “Tron,” as well as producing songs for various artists including The Weeknd’s “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming”, both chart-toppers in 2016.

In terms of the fortune they have accumulated in the years they made music, CelebrityNetWorth reports that Bangalter’s net worth is at $70 million. Income amassed by the French musician mostly comes from the sales of the duo's album. Homem-Christo also reported a net worth of $70 million.

The duo is not known for live performances and there were no tours nor performances that supported the release of their albums. However, it was Coachella 2006 that broke this trend. Billboard reports that the music festival paid Daft Punk "a ton of money" to perform live. The groundbreaking performance was not typical for the music festival in the 2000s. Daft Punk's stage had a glowing pyramid, bright lights and a giant LED screen.

With almost three decades of great music under their belt, Daft Punk can rightly be considered one of the most influential acts of their time.
