On Sunday, Jan. 10, the world lost music icon David Bowie. The singer, who was born David Robert Jones, died at the age of 69 after secretly battling cancer for 18 months.
Born in London, England, on Jan. 8. 1947, Bowie broke into the music industry in the late 60s with his first hit song, “Space Oddity.” From there his career only went up, becoming a major player in the U.S. with his 1975 single “Fame.” Bowie became known for his androgynous appearance and for reinventing himself with every album.
