Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are just one of the couples in Hollywood who started their relationship as good friends before progressing to become lovers and finally, as husband and wife. Reynolds recently gushed about his wife in an interview and shared a few details about their early dating life.

Ryan was candid during his interview on SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio Deadpool special and shared a few interesting stories about his and wife Blake’s love story, E! News reported. Ryan first met Blake while filming the movie “The Green Lantern.” He mentioned that their relationship was purely platonic at first, however, both of them soon realized that something romantic was brewing between them. "We were buddies then. I remember it was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and all that stuff we were both single,” Ryan recalled.

It took some time before Ryan and Blake’s relationship progressed to something more than friendship. The actor even shared an uncomfortable double date experience that they both had. "We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date for their respective probably because we were just like fireworks coming across," he recounted.

The “Deadpool” actor also mentioned that they went through a transition period after he and Blake began to date each other. "It was weird at first but we were buddies for a long time,” he explained. “I think it's the best way to have a relationship is to start as friends.”

The two eventually tied the knot on September 2012 and welcomed their daughter James in December 2014. Since then, he has become a doting father to their now one-year old child. Given his new father status, Ryan was even named Sexiest Dad Alive by People magazine. The honor was announced by Jimmy Fallon on the “Tonight Show” on Tuesday, when he unveiled the magazine’s issue which featured Ryan on the cover, CNN reported.

"I mean scientifically speaking what's sexier than a man that … produces children and then looks surprised about it," Ryan said during the show. The actor was previously named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2010.
