KEY POINTS

  • Patterns are unlocked by completing Deepsight Resonance objectives
  • Perks can be achieved by leveling up specific weapons
  • Unlocking Patterns involves a fair bit of luck in terms of weapon drops

There’s a bit of an arms race in “Destiny 2” now that “The Witch Queen” and the long-awaited weapon crafting system have gone live. Players are on the hunt for the best new perk rolls available before the new raid drops, but many have found that the process isn’t as easy as it first seemed.

Weapon crafting is a fairly simple system to use. The downside, however, is that there’s a lot of grinding involved. Those who want to get the best possible perk combos in any of the new craftable weapons will have to spend a bit of time in-game.

For those who don’t know, weapons can only be crafted after players unlock their respective Patterns, which serve as blueprints for the crafting station. After obtaining the Patterns, players will then have to unlock the perks themselves through a separate mechanic.

Unlocking weapon patterns is straightforward but very luck-dependent. To unlock a pattern, players need to complete five Deepsight Resonance extractions from the desired weapon type. This means that players will need to get five drops of the same weapon to drop, and all five drops must have Deepsight Resonance objectives.

There are a few in-game objectives that reward players with Patterns. For example, one mission from the Relic may give players a Pattern as a reward, while some missions from the Investigation Board are guaranteed to give other Patterns. Players can track unlocked Patterns at the Triumphs menu.

The best way to unlock crafting blueprints is by completing the main “Witch Queen” story campaign first. This will give access to the Wellspring activity on Savathun’s Throne World. This activity drops a variety of Throne World weapons, including ones that do not drop from any other activity.

As for perks, the crafted weapons need to be leveled up through combat. Advanced perks will become available under the weapon’s Pattern in the Relic once the weapon reaches a high-enough level. Make sure to commit to using a gun after crafting it to unlock as many perks as possible.

Keep in mind that crafting and reshaping weapons will cost materials, so be sure to extract the right resources from Deepsight Resonance weapons before dismantling them.
