  • Indestructible Telesto shots can stop Supers like Silence and Squall and Chaos Reach
  • This exploit can only be used in the Cauldron map on the Moon
  • Telesto's other problems were fixed in the latest emergency patch

Just a few hours since the latest patch for “Destiny 2” went live, players have already found a way to use the notorious Telesto fusion rifle to break PvP matches.

The most recent 3.3.1.2 hotfix rectified some issues with Telesto. Players will no longer be able to shoot and destroy Telesto bolts and the weapon’s projectiles will no longer stick to players, preventing the “Telesto Vesto” method from being used in the Crucible ever again. However, players have already found a way to exploit the exotic fusion rifle’s changes almost immediately.

The now-indestructible Telesto bolts can be used to completely nullify some Super abilities in the Crucible, as seen in this short clip by Twitter user @Hive_Thrall. When shot on sliding doors such as the ones in the Cauldron map, Telesto shots can be used to block and absorb incoming Super damage.

This can be extremely problematic for Supers like Chaos Reach and Silence and Squall, as the large hitboxes of these abilities can be completely blocked by a few Telesto bolts and negate them completely.

Roaming Supers like Hammer of Sol and Daybreak can also be shut down by a well-placed Telesto burst. Not only will the bolts block projectiles, they will also prevent players from pushing through blocked doorways without getting severely damaged or instantly killed.

The silver lining with this Telesto exploit is that the bolts’ lifetimes have been reduced from 10 seconds to just five seconds. Additionally, this only seems to be useful in the Cauldron since it’s the only map that has moving doors.

This new exploit may not be as game-breaking as the previously-patched “Telesto Vesto” method, which allows players to coat allies with Telesto shots that would absorb all enemy fire for a short duration. In fact, the new exploit isn’t anywhere as broken as the rest of the weapon’s long record of game-breaking moments.

The Telesto exotic fusion rifle fires a burst of exploding plasma bolts that can stick to surfaces. Oddly enough, this small interaction has caused the weapon to trigger a wide variety of weird and unusual bugs ever since the time of the first “Destiny” game.
