“Euphoria” star Lukas Gage earned the sympathy of fans and fellow celebrities recently after a mystery director mocked his apartment. There has been a lot of speculation regarding the filmmaker’s identity, but a report has now claimed that he is a “Hollywood hotshot.”

The British director who mocked Gage during a virtual audition is Tristram Shapeero, Page Six reported. He has worked on some of the biggest TV shows, such as “The Good Place,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Superstore,” “Fresh off the Boat” and “Glow.”

Sources close to Shapeero told the outlet that the filmmaker plans to release a statement following the gaffe.

“Tristram is just mortified, he just wants to really apologize to Lukas and make it plain that this is not his usual behavior,” the insider added.

In the video that Gage earlier shared on Instagram, he was in his apartment getting ready for a Zoom audition when a voice said, “These poor people live in these tiny apartments. Like, I’m looking at his background and he’s got his TV, and you know.”

Gage didn’t prolong the awkward situation and told the person that he could hear what he was saying. The man apologized for the mistake.

"I know it’s a s—-y apartment. That’s why I need you to give me this job so I can get a better one … Listen, I’m living in a 4×4 box … It’s fine. Just give me the job and we’ll be fine,” the actor said to the mystery man.

Gage captioned the post, “psa if you’re a s–t-talking director make sure to mute ur s–t on Zoom mtgings,” although he didn’t reveal who the person was. He later confirmed that he didn’t get the part.

After he shared the clip on social media, many stars reached out to Gage and offered words of encouragement, while some wanted him to spill the name of the mystery director. Others lauded him for how he handled the head-scratching conversation.

“You’re a class act and from the way you responded to this must be a joy to work with. Your apt looks pretty great to me and honestly, f that dude, he doesn’t deserve to work with someone like you,” actress Jenna Ushkowitz said.

“What a lousy thing for him to say. and here you are putting yourself out there for your audition. vulnerable. wanting to get the part etc,” his “The White Lotus” co-star Molly Shannon wrote.
