On Sunday, during a Q&A in London, actor Michael Douglas revealed that Val Kilmer was battling oral cancer. “Things don’t look too good for him. My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately,” Douglas said.

But now, Kilmer, 56, is firing back and denying Douglas’ claims. Kilmer took to his Facebook page to comment on Douglas’, 72, recent statement. “I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed,” wrote Kilmer.

According to the actor, he has not spoken to Douglas in almost two years and the last time they did speak, Kilmer asked him “for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis” for a lump in his throat. Kilmer also made sure to point out that he made three films this year.

Kilmer stated he harbors no ill-will towards Douglas, despite him sharing the misinformation. “Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talent people around the world, and I’m sure he meant no harm.”

As for his health, while Kilmer acknowledges that he has been quiet about it, he still wants his fans to know that he is being responsible. “Some fans have mistakenly thought my silence about my personal issues meant that somehow I wasn’t being responsible to my health, because of my reliance on prayer and Love. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Last year, Kilmer took to social media to deny a report that claimed he had a tumor. “There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue. I was in to verify I have no tumor or infection of any kind,” the actor said.

Kilmer did face a scare in January 2015 when he was rushed to the hospital after a 911 call. According to a statement from his rep, Kilmer was “undergoing tests at a Los Angeles hospital for a possible tumor.”
