A dog was caught on camera scaring off a bear after the animal entered the backyard of a home in New Jersey. Mark Stinziano, who lives in the house, shared a video on Facebook from his home security camera that captured the interaction between a black bear and the dog.

Stinziano said the dog belonged to his neighbor and scared off the bear, for which he would treat the canine a steak dinner.

"I was working in the garage. My wife was inside just watching TV, and the bear was back here having a snack," he said. The video shows the bear pulling down Stinziano's bird feeder before the dog races in from the neighbor's yard.

It was quite clear that the dog was not hesitant to scare off the bear as he ran toward the animal at full speed. The puppy chased the bear until it was gone. "Riley-1 Bear-0," Stinziano wrote on Facebook.

Riley's owner Alan Tlusty said his dog was very courageous and would often do such a thing.

"It's incredible," he said. "He does chase after the bear whenever he sees him in the yard ... but not like this." Stinziano said his dog Riley always checks in on his kids when they're playing in the pool. "Now he is keeping them safe!" he wrote.

In another incident that took place recently, a dog saved his human companions from a copperhead snake. The dog pounced on the snake to save two people.

"[Baker] started wrestling with it on the ground, slinging it back and forth, and then he threw it up in the air," one person said.

"He wouldn't take his eyes off of it. And I didn't grab him or anything, I just said Baker, come here, and he walked right to me," Seth, the dog's owner, said.

The snake lunged up at the dog and bit his lip, leaving two bite marks on the inside of his mouth. The dog was later taken to a clinic and treated for the injuries.
