Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) head Donna Brazile has penned an explosive new memoir about the 2016 presidential election and in it, accuses Hillary Clinton aides of treating her like a slave.

“I’m not Patsey the slave,” recalls Brazile telling Clinton staffers, according to the Washington Post Saturday.

Brazile, who is black, was referencing a character from the film, “12 Years a Slave.”

“Y’all keep whipping me and whipping me and you never give me any money or any way to do my damn job. I am not going to be your whipping girl! ” she recalls saying.

Brazile wrote a preview of the book for Politico Thursday in which she accused the Clinton campaign of “rigging the system” for her to beat presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders. Brazile walked those comments back on Sunday during an interview with ABC’s “This Week.”

The Politico story detailed how a “Joint Fund-Raising Agreement between the DNC, the Hillary Victory Fund, and Hillary for America,” allowed Clinton to “control the party's finances, strategy, and all the money raised.” The DNC typically uses the money it raises to support the party’s eventual candidate, but Brazile contends that Clinton was controlling the money before she was the nominee.

Brazile lays the blame for the DNC’s debt which led to the Clinton deal at the feet of disgraced former chair Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Wasserman Schultz resigned after WikiLeaks disclosed a number of DNC emails, some of which suggested that Wasserman Schultz unfairly favored Clinton over Sanders.

Brazile also took shots at how the Clinton campaign was run, calling it stiff and some of its messaging “stupid.” Brazile said that she briefly considered enacting a long and complicated process of removing Clinton and her Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine from the ticket after Clinton’s fainting spell in September. She would have replaced them with then-Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Corey Booker.

Brazile’s book is called “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House,” and will be released Tuesday by Hachette Books.
