  • Twitter users have mixed reaction about Lingafelt's abuse allegations against Bell

Drake Bell denied his ex-girlfriend Melissa Lingafelt's allegations that he abused her when they were still together.

Lingafelt shared a video on TikTok alleging that her ex-boyfriend, Bell, verbally and physically abused her when they lived together over a decade ago. But the "Drake & Josh" star denied it.

“I never abused my ex-girlfriend or did so many of the other things Melissa falsely claimed on her TikTok video. As our relationship ended — more than a decade ago — we, unfortunately, both called each other terrible names, as often happens when couples are breaking up. But that is it,” he said in a statement to Variety.

“Clearly, Melissa still felt close enough to me just last year that she was comfortable reaching out to ask me to provide her with financial support during a tough time (which I did). I do not know if today’s behavior is some kind of misguided quest for more money or attention. But I cannot and will not allow these offensive and defamatory allegations to go unchallenged and I am reviewing my legal options.”

In her video, Lingafelt shared photos of them together and recalled the time she was with Bell. She starts the clip by telling the people that it’s her story and she doesn’t care if no one would believe her.

“First, I would like to start out with saying I don’t really care if anyone believes me as this is my story and my life and something I went through. It wasn’t until recently that I actually realized that abuse is something that all women have to go through,” she said.

Lingafelt was only 16 when she started dating Bell and moved in with him. After about a year, he allegedly started abusing her verbally and it was “the worst type of verbal abuse you could ever imagine.” The abuse allegedly turned into physical ,with Bell hitting and throwing everything at her.

"At the pinnacle of it, he drag me down the stairs of our house in Los Feliz. My face hit every step on the way down. I have photos of this," she added.

Lingafelt's revelation received mixed reactions on Twitter, with some immediately wanting to cancel Bell. But some also want more evidence before judging the "Superhero Movie" star.

"TW: Abuse Long story short. Drake Bell is absolutely cancelled," one wrote.

"The girl showed no evidence that drake bell abused her and people already tryna cancel him, smh claims with no evidence are just claims," another commented.
