Irish police confirmed Wednesday night that the human remains discovered in North Dublin, Ireland Monday as those of Keane Mulready-Woods’, a teenager who went missing from his hometown of Drogheda Sunday.

Mulready-Woods, 17, was reported missing by his family Sunday night after he vanished at around 1 p.m. EST (6 P.M. local time). He warned in an online video that he would be kidnapped, murdered, and his body might be dismembered prior to his disappearance.

On Monday evening, his severed arms and limbs were reportedly found cached in a sports bag in a housing estate in Moatview Drive in Darndale. The teen was identified through his DNA records.

Dublin Fire Brigade was reported about a burning car in nearby Drumcondra district Wednesday morning where a severed head was discovered. Another DNA test is underway to confirm whether the severed head also belongs to him.

Irish police believe that the murder has a connection with the ongoing feud between two Drogheda criminal gangs. At least three people have been reportedly killed as a result of their rivalry.

“This is a brutal and savage attack on a child and is completely unacceptable in any normal democratic society. The level of violence is shocking and the investigation into the murder of Keane is being co-ordinated from Drogheda Garda Station,” Daily Mail reported, citing a spokesperson from Garda police, Ireland.

Police believe that he was murdered Sunday night in a house in Drogheda following the discovery of blood in the property, Irish Times reported.

Investigators believe that the teenager’s remains were left in different places by his killers in a bid to spark fear among the members of the rival gang.
