Ellen DeGeneres opted to enjoy some down time with her wife Portia de Rossi after concluding “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

The 64-year-old television host was spotted gallivanting in Marrakesh in Morocco over the weekend with the 49-year-old model-actress. They walked around the souks of the town, according to Access.

The outlet noted that the couple enjoyed lunch at Kabana Rooftop in the medina. DeGeneres dressed down for the getaway as she donned khaki pants and a white linen shirt. As for de Rossi, she wore a blue and white striped frock and patterned scarf.

It was not surprising that the pair headed to Africa after the finale episode of DeGeneres’ talk show. She previously started an educational facility dedicated for the preservation and conservation of gorillas in Rwanda. She had said before that she was planning to visit the place.

The couple’s trip to North Africa came days after the talk show concluded after 19 years and more than 3,000 episodes. In the finale, Ellen got emotional as she walked on set for the last time, Entertainment Tonight reported.

For the final episode, DeGeneres was joined by her friends, family and fans. De Rossi was also there, and she even teared up as her spouse delivered her last monologue for the talk show.

“No one thought that this would work. Not because it was a different kind of show, but because I was different,” the host said, recalling when she couldn’t say “gay” during the show’s early days.

“We couldn’t say 'gay.' I couldn’t say 'we,' because that implied that I was with someone. I sure couldn’t say 'wife,' and that’s because it wasn’t legal for gay people to get married, and now I say 'wife' all the time,” she added.

Jennifer Aniston, Pink and Billie Eilish showed up as the final guests of the program. DeGeneres closed the show by thanking her staff, the people who worked with her and her devoted audience.

“To all of you who have watched this show and supported me, thank you so much for this platform. I hope that what I’ve been able to do in the last 19 years has made you happy, and that I was able to take a little bit of pain away from a bad day or anything you’re going through,” she was quoted as saying by USA Today.

“Thank you so much for being on this journey with me. I feel the love, and I send it back to you. Bye.”
