Emmy-winning actor Ben Platt revealed Sunday that he had contracted COVID-19 early this year in March.

The 27-year-old actor likened the life-threatening illness to an "awful flu" when he shared a personal update on his official Twitter account over the weekend. Platt made the statement while replying to a tweet that asked, “Do you personally know anyone that has contracted COVID-19?”

"Me. it was like an awful flu that lingered for 3 weeks or so. thankfully made a full recovery. so many haven’t been as lucky and will continue not to be," Platt tweeted.

The Broadway star assured his fans that he is "totally fine now" and urged them to wear masks whenever they need to step outside.

Platt has joined the long list of celebrities who have shared their diagnosis on social media.

Recently, "Duck Dynasty" star Sadie Robertson revealed that she was hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 amid her pregnancy and "struggled" with the symptoms of the lethal virus.

"Life update: I am not going to lie, this has been one of the most challenging things. I got COVID-19 and ended up getting very sick. I know everyone experiences COVID differently, but wow these symptoms are wild. I’ve definitely struggled through this!" Robertson wrote.

Hugh Grant also recently opened up about his bout with COVID-19 earlier this year.

“It started as just a very strange syndrome where I kept breaking into a terrible sweat. It was like a poncho of sweat, embarrassing really,” Grant said during an interview on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” Tuesday. “My eyeballs felt about three sizes too big. This feeling though as some enormous man was sitting on my chest, sort of Harvey Weinstein or someone.”

Other stars who contracted the virus are Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Kevin Hart, Olga Kurylenko, Idris Elba, Pink, Dwayne Johnson, soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, tennis ace Novak Djokovic, Madonna and Olivia Nikkanen.

The U.S. saw a massive surge in positive coronavirus cases over the past couple of weeks, recording more than 100,000 infections almost daily. In the last 24 hours, there have been 138,373 new cases and 583 more deaths due to COVID-19.

As of Sunday, the nation has seen more than 11.3 million cases and 251,382 deaths so far. Texas is the worst-affected state with 1.093 million coronavirus cases, while California comes second with 1.033 million.
