Each year, it seems like TV gets bigger and better, which is why every year the Emmy Awards categories are such close races. The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards airs tonight at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC, with actors like Keri Russell, Donald Glover and more nominated.

Here are our predictions for which shows, actors and actresses will win in the major categories at the 2018 Emmys:

Outstanding Drama Series

  • “The Americans”
  • “The Crown”
  • “Game of Thrones”
  • “The Handmaid’s Tale”
  • “Stranger Things”
  • “This Is Us”
  • “Westworld”

Why?: Because of timing, the HBO series wasn’t up for an Emmy last year, but this time around, it’s ready to claim its crown.

Outstanding Comedy Series

  • “Atlanta”
  • “Barry”
  • “Black-ish”
  • “Curb Your Enthusiasm”
  • “Glow”
  • “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
  • “Silicon Valley”
  • “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”

Why?: With “Veep” not in the running this year, it’s anyone’s game, but everyone’s happiness about the revival of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” might be enough for it to win.

Lead Actress in a Drama Series

  • Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”)
  • Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”)
  • Keri Russell (“The Americans”)
  • Claire Foy (“The Crown”)
  • Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
  • Evan Rachel Wood (“Westworld”)

Why?: No one can stop talking about Oh’s exceptional performance in the BBC America series.

Lead Actor in a Drama Series

  • Jason Bateman (“Ozark”)
  • Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”)
  • Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”)
  • Milo Ventimiglia (“This Is Us”)
  • Ed Harris (“Westworld”)
  • Jeffrey Wright (“Westworld”)

Why?: He won in 2017, and he has a good chance of winning again this year.

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

  • Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”)
  • Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things”)
  • Vanessa Kirby (“The Crown”)
  • Ann Dowd (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
  • Yvonne Strahovski (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
  • Alexis Bledel (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
  • Thandie Newton (“Westworld”)

Why?: While Dowd won last year, Bledel’s role continues to grow, and she might be taking over as the reigning champion of the category.

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

  • Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”)
  • Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”)
  • Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”)
  • David Harbour (“Stranger Things”)
  • Matt Smith (“The Crown”)
  • Joseph Fiennes (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)

Why?: Solving mysteries, helping to keep the town safe and being a new dad to Eleven? Harbour’s Netflix character has done a lot this past season, and he portrayed it all very well.

  • Issa Rae (“Insecure”)

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

  • Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”)
  • Ted Danson (“The Good Place”)
  • Larry David (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”)
  • Donald Glover (“Atlanta”)
  • Bill Hader (“Barry”)
  • William H. Macy (“Shameless”)

Why?: Glover won last year, but “Barry” is new and has been building an audience, largely due to Hader’s performance.

  • Laurie Metcalf, Roseanne

  • Aidy Bryant “(Saturday Night Live”)
  • Leslie Jones “(Saturday Night Live”)
  • Kate McKinnon “(Saturday Night Live”)
  • Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Ms, Maisel”)
  • Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace”)

Why?: There are so many great options in this category, but the revival of “Will & Grace” brought back Mullally’s Karen, and she's a treasure.
