KEY POINTS

  • Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin attended the ETHDenver conference
  • His presence at the conference excited crypto fans, especially Shiba Inu investors
  • Buterin has received SHIB tokens and confirmed to have burned 90% of the tokens

Shiba Inu fans were sent into a frenzy when Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin was photographed wearing pajamas littered with Shiba Inu puppies at the ETHDenver conference.

The picture was shared on Twitter by WatcherGuru, which earned more than 7,000 likes. The Ethereum co-founder has been linked to the Shiba Inu meme coin in the past and this latest picture intrigued investors and fans.

"Maybe he's Shytoshi Kusama, shit maybe he's Satoshi Nakamoto makes sense, leash is supposedly the new Bitcoin. Maybe he was like fuck Ether 2 I like dogs, Shiba Inus specifically the whole leash, bone, and Shiba deal is pretty clever woofable etc," one Twitter user speculated.

A Twitter user who goes by the name PGuy4213 also spotted the Russian-Canadian programmer wearing a Shiba Inu-themed watch. Pictures of Buterin wearing Shiba Inu-themed apparel flooded Twitter with some suggesting what his outfit actually means.

Another one believed Buterin is Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama because both write their tweet in the same way. "I think @VitalikButerin is @ShytoshiKusama, the way they write tweets are most likely the same way." Twitter user Dwaine_1 claimed Buterin is Ryoshi, the creator of Shiba Inu.

Speculations about Buterin's connection with Shiba Inu do not easily die and claims that he could be Ryoshi are founded on the fact that until now, nobody knows the real identity of the Shiba Inu creator, except for their pseudonym Ryoshi.

Buterin has a connection with Shiba Inu and it came to light last year. As the story goes, Ryoshi is believed to have sent the Ethereum co-founder 50% of the SHIB token.

Buterin donated over 50 trillion of the meme coin to a COVID relief fund in India. The co-founder of Bitcoin Magazine also burnt 90 percent of SHIB by sending it over to a burner, or inaccessible wallet.

Buterin sporting Shiba Inu-themed pajamas at the conference does not seem to have a much deeper meaning. The market seems to agree with its muted price response to the buzz.
