Netflix is set to become the new home of the Eurovision Song Contest in the U.S.

Deadline reports that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights to the 2019 and 2020 iterations of the hugely popular international singing competition. The 2019 competition aired live from Tel Aviv, Israel, from May 14-18, and will drop on Netflix in America on July 22. No date is set for the 2020 show, but the entire show will arrive on Netflix after its live broadcast abroad. Netflix is acquiring the American rights after Logo TV opted not to broadcast the show in America after three years.

Deadline notes that this acquisition goes against Netflix’s typical preference to acquire the international rights to all of its content. The report guesses that this move is to help acclimate American audiences to the Eurovision experience ahead of their upcoming original comedy based on the outlandish competition. The untitled film will star Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams and will be directed by David Dobkin of “Wedding Crashers” fame. There is no information on when the film may premiere.
