Ubisoft veteran Alex Hutchinson, who served as the game director of “Far Cry 4” and “Assassin’s Creed III,” has revealed that he is going to work on a new project soon. Sadly, this is something that will not be part of Ubisoft’s lineup of releases for he has already left the French multinational video game publisher.

Just this Saturday, Hutchison announced via social media that he has left Ubisoft after seven years of working for the company. Despite his shocking exit, the creative director suggested that he is happy with his decision for he is set to work on a new project. “So! I left Ubisoft after 7 years. Extremely proud of all we achieved on ‘Far Cry’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed’ but very excited to build something new,” he announced on Twitter.

In a follow-up, Hutchinson revealed that he and a couple of people have started their own gaming studio called Typhoon Studios. He then poked fun at the idea that they will unlikely deliver good news to the fans since they will be preoccupied setting up their own office for the time being. Nevertheless, he maintained that they are already “hard at work imagining a brand new world.”

Aside from his work with “Far Cry 4” and “Assassin’s Creed 3,” Hutchinson has also made headlines for his unique opinion about AAA games. Back in 2012, he said that the pursuit of such games is “kind of cancerous growth … that will leave AAA blockbusters as nothing more than the last of the dinosaurs.” A year later, Hutchinson insisted that AAA games are dying out, as reported by GameSpot.

Prior to joining Ubisoft, Hutchinson also worked for Electronic Arts and Maxis. He is credited to have helped in making games like “The Sims 2,” “Army of Two: The 40th Day” and “Spore,” as pointed out by PC Gamer.

Meanwhile, his new company, Typhoon Studios already has a website, and it’s still pretty bare at the moment. It only shows an advertisement for the “outstanding talent” they are looking for. The company is hiring Technical Artists, Environment Artists and Gameplay Programmers in preparation for their first project.
