Father Who Wanted Son Allegedly Kills Toddler Daughter By Banging Her Head Against Wall

A man has been accused of killing his younger daughter and critically injuring his elder one after a tiff with his wife for not giving birth to a baby boy.

The accused, identified as K Prasad from Vishakhapatnam, a city in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, often harassed his wife Lakshmi for not delivering a baby boy, The Times of India reported. Lakshmi gave birth to two daughters aged 2 and 4, in six years of marriage.

On Friday night, Prasad picked up a fight with Lakshmi over the same issue. In a fit of rage, he banged his daughters' heads against a wall at their home, killing K Pravani, 2, and injuring K Siri, 4, the report said.

After committing the gruesome act, Prasad reportedly fled the scene. Lakshmi then sought help from her neighbors and took the bleeding toddlers to a nearby hospital. However, Pravani was pronounced brought dead at the hospital. Siri was in stable condition, undergoing treatment, the police said.

Based on Lakshmi's complaint, the police have registered a case against Prasad and have started probing the case. The body of the toddler was sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of the death. The police have also initiated efforts to nab the father, who was still on the run, Times Now News reported.

In April, a man in India was accused of throwing acid at his wife for not delivering a baby boy. The accused, identified as Harvinder Singh from the northern Indian state of Punjab, had been married to the victim for seven years and has two young daughters.

Singh, however, got enraged after his wife gave birth to a third female child and threw acid at the woman. The victim suffered 58% burns in the attack and was hospitalized for treatment. The police registered a case against Singh on charges of attempted murder and assault causing grievous bodily harm.
