“The Flash” Season 2, episode 19 will see Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) go up against a meta-human that’s holding one of his friends hostage. However, he will have to do it without any powers. The CW

Barry Allen/The Flash finally had his big confrontation with the villain Zoom, but it didn’t go his way on “The Flash.” With the big bad of Season 2 on the loose and the speedster without his powers for the first time, a new threat will make its way to Central City in episode 19.

After opening the breach to Earth-2 in the latest episode, Zoom (Teddy Sears) demanded that The Flash (Grant Gustin) surrender his speed force in exchange for Wally West’s (Keiynan Lonsdale) life. The hero reluctantly agreed, allowing Zoom to become faster than ever and make off with their friend, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker). Fortunately, the world will learn in episode 19 of the CW series that Barry Allen doesn’t need superpowers to stop a bad guy from terrorizing his city.

According to the episode’s official plot synopsis, Zoom won’t be the only bad guy they have to worry about. When a meta-human with super-strength named Griffin Grey (Haig Sutherland) mistakes Harry (Tom Cavanagh) for his Earth-1 doppelganger, the villain kidnaps him thinking that they can reverse his current condition. In order to rescue him, Barry turns to Harry’s daughter, Jesse (Violett Beane), for help tracking her father. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) has to field questions from Wally about The Flash’s true identity.

After Zoom revealed that someone close to him is close to the hero, he’ll likely have a lot of questions such as “why is a madman kidnapping me to upset you?” Joe is committed to keeping Barry’s identity a secret at all costs, but it’s possible that the highly intelligent Wally may figure things out all on his own.

Sadly, protecting his identity will be the least of Barry’s problems in episode 19, titled “Back to Normal.” Now that he’s no longer a speedster, the hero will have to readjust to life as a normal person. As the below promotional video shows, this will prove extra-difficult when circumstances force him to don The Flash costume and try to trick Grey into thinking he’s still got powers. Sadly, it’s still unclear exactly how, or if, Zoom will be addressed in the new episode or if he’ll simply make Caitlin his captive for an indefinite amount of time.

As Season 2 draws to a close, fans will just have to wait and see how it all plays out for the speedster on April 26 at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
