“Frozen 2” will be mainly about Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and her journey to self-discovery. In a recent interview, Menzel talked about her character and how she will go on this journey to find out what her purpose in life is and why she was given these magical powers.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Menzel explained that her character has a “calling” in the sequel.” The fans know that the journey the heroes will take in the film will be about uncovering some secrets about the past, but the actress pointed out that the story is also about her character trying to understand who she is, why she has these powers, and what her purpose in life is.

The trailer of the film revealed that the Trolls will tell Elsa and the others that the past is not what it seems. The heroes will go on a journey north, to a forest in an enchanted land to discover the secrets of the past.

The fear in the first film was about how Elsa’s magic was too powerful. In “Frozen 2” the question will be whether her powers will be enough to safely make the journey and find out the truth.

One aspect of the past that the heroes will explore in the sequel has to do with Elsa and Anna’s (Kristen Bell) parents. The parents will be back in a flashback sequence, but details about what happened to them will be revealed in the forest.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee teased that the movie will reveal where the parents were going when the ship sank. The movie will also explore why Elsa was born with magic, and if there is such a thing as happily ever after.

“Frozen 2” will be released on Nov. 22.
