KEY POINTS

  • Energy Recharge affects the amount of energy that Elemental Particles restore
  • “Genshin Impact” characters gain more energy depending on the element of the particles they absorb
  • All party members regain energy through particles, even when off-field

Elemental energy is the power that fuels the Elemental Bursts of all characters in “Genshin Impact.” All Burst abilities require a certain amount of energy before they can be used, unlike the normal Elemental Skills that only require a short cooldown period before being able to be used again.

Normally, “Genshin Impact” players will be able to accumulate elemental energy just by playing the game normally. It’s naturally generated while in combat, and since every character has an elemental ability, energy isn’t exactly hard to come by.

However, “Genshin Impact” players will want to maximize their energy gain if they ever want to clear high-level content efficiently. This is where Energy Recharge comes in.

Regaining energy is an important aspect of combat that many new players tend to ignore. This is especially true for characters with high energy costs like Beidou. The Energy Recharge stat lets players gain energy faster, resulting in higher Elemental Burst uptime across the entire party if used correctly.

Here’s how it works.

Elemental Orbs and Particles

Energy is gained by collecting Elemental Orbs and Particles. These are generated every time an enemy is hit by abilities. Small enemies like slimes and Hilichurls generate Particles, while larger targets like Mitachurls generate Orbs. Orbs generate more energy than Particles. They restore energy to the entire party, but the active character receives more energy than the rest.

The Energy Recharge stat simply boosts the amount of energy that characters get per particle. These elemental energy particles are automatically collected by player characters, but they take time before they actually make contact with players. Each party member has their own Energy Recharge values, so make sure to keep track of whoever is on the field.

Particle generation itself is character-dependent. Some units are better at generating particles than others.

Elemental Energy Resonance

The type of elemental energy particle generated is determined by the type of element that produces it. Pyro attacks will generate Pyro energy, and so on.

This is important because characters who receive particles that match their element will receive more energy. Conversely, if they receive any other element, they will recover less energy per particle.

This interaction encourages players to build energy-demanding teams with corresponding “battery” characters who are dedicated to generating the energy particles required by the team’s main damage dealers. Good battery characters include Diona, Fischl and Albedo.

Energy Recharge is normally built on high-utility supports like Bennett and Xingqiu to charge their Bursts faster. However, DPS units like Beidou and Eula can also greatly benefit from Energy Recharge substats so they can more effectively charge their own abilities.
