‘The Gifted’
What will happen to the Strucker family in “The Gifted” Season 1? Fox

“The Gifted” Season 1 will soon introduce the Strucker family, led by Reed (Stephen Moyer) and Caitlin (Amy Acker).

Ahead of the Fox TV series’ October premiere, showrunner Matt Nix shared some details about the Strucker family’s matriarch. While speaking with TV Line, Nix said that Caitlin will be a total badass in the series. “One of the things that was central, my original pitch was talking about the evolution of Caitlin, from a suburban mom who is working as a nurse,” he said.

Nix added that Caitlin has special skills that no one else has. “And it turns out that being the only one who knows about medicine among the mutants… well, mutant medicine is a big, interesting place for the show to go,” he added.

However, Nix doesn’t want viewers to see Caitlin as just a nurse. That’s why there will be a strong emphasis on how she will evolve from someone from the medical field to an underground warrior. “There will be fun things to explore in the Strucker backstory,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the cast of “The Gifted” Season 1 recently graced the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. After their panel, Acker, Moyer and their co-stars were asked by TV Line to describe each other’s characters. Acker and Moyer’s onscreen daughter, Natalie Alyn Lind, who will play the role of Lauren Strucker, gushed over her TV mom.

“She plays my amazing mother, and she is kind of like a badass. She’s one of the characters in our story that doesn’t have powers, but she makes up for that by just being Amy Acker. She’s definitely one of the biggest aspects of our show coz she’s really the one that kind of helps us go through this entire experience,” she said.

In “The Gifted” Season 1, Caitlin and Reed also have a son named Andy (Percy Hynes White). The character appears to be a typical teenager struggling with his identity. But the reality is, Andy will actually be struggling to come to terms with his mutant abilities.

“The Gifted” Season 1 will premiere on Fox on Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. EST.
