NEW DELHI: Gold, silver prices fell on heavy selling by stockists. End of marriage and festival season coupled with weak global trends also contributed to the fall.

Standard gold and ornaments lost Rs 110 each to Rs 12,230 and Rs 12,280 per 10 gram respectively. The gold had suffered a loss of Rs 60 in the previous day s trading, sovereign also lost Rs 25 to Rs 9,925 per piece of eight gram.

Analysts said the selling pressure gathered momentum on reports of the metal falling sharply for the second straight session in the overseas markets. Silver joined the weakening trend and surrendered further ground on selling pressure.

Silver ready fell by Rs 660 to Rs 22,990 per kg. It had lost Rs 50 on previous day. Silver weekly based delivery also fell by Rs 620 to Rs 22,980 per kg.

Silver coins dropped by Rs 200 to Rs 26,500 for buying and Rs 26,600 for selling of 100 pieces.
