Google has finally unveiled the Pixel 3a and 3a XL just this week, and in an apparent attempt to get more people to use its new phones, has launched a trade-in program that not only allows consumers to get the new midrange smartphones at a lower price -- they might even get paid to buy it.

Google’s new smartphones are relatively lower-specced compared to their more expensive counterparts, but they are also cheaper. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL might have weaker processsors, cameras, smaller storage options and more compared to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, but they’re way cheaper than their older siblings.

Google hopes to get more people to switch from iOS to Android, BGR noted. To do that, the tech company has launched a trade in program where iPhone users can get refund credits simply by giving their old iPhones to Google when they purchase a Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. This is similar to an offer the company launched for the Pixel 3.

As seen on the Google Store, iPhone owners who might be interested to give their old or new iPhones up can receive refund credits between $30 to $610, depending on the iPhone model and its actual condition at the time of trade-in. Not all iPhone models are eligible for the offer; models eligible for the offer start from the iPhone 6 and newer.

Google gives different estimated values depending on the iPhone’s storage size, carrier, and condition. Obviously, iPhones that don’t turn on or have display issues such as cracks will have lower values compared to those that are in better shape. Here’s a quick glance at the amount Google could give for each iPhone model:

  • iPhone 6: $228- $260
  • iPhone 6 Plus: $212 - $272
  • iPhone 6S: $215.50 - $263
  • iPhone 6S Plus: $169.20 - $271
  • iPhone 7: $165 - $289
  • iPhone 7 Plus: $98.00 - $295.00
  • iPhone 8: $114.00 - $345.00
  • iPhone 8 Plus: $107.00 - $390.00
  • iPhone SE: $246.00 - $264.00
  • iPhone X: $95.00 - $470.00
  • iPhone XR: $66.00 - $390.00
  • iPhone XS: $25.50 - $525.00
  • iPhone XS Max: $26.25 - $610.00

If for some reason iPhone XS or XS Max owners decide to trade in and get the highest estimated value, it would mean that they will get the Pixel 3a or Pixel 3a XL for free (sold at $399 and $479 respectively), and Google gets to pay them added refund credits reaching beyond $100. That’s a sweet offer for those who won’t mind the switch.

Other brands eligible for trade in include Samsung, LG, Motorola and Huawei. Those who own old Google Pixel and Nexus devices can also avail of the offer.
