Fans were disappointed when there was no announcement about “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” at the San Diego Comic Con. Director James Gunn apologized to the fans online for the delay in the film and explained why it is taking a little longer than expected.

The development of the threequel was in trouble after Gunn was asked to leave by Disney, and then some of the cast members disapproved of his exit. The studio later rehired the director to helm the project, but there has been no word yet about the development of the film.

When a fan asked Gunn about whey there was no announcement about the film at the San Diego Comic Con, the director apologized on Twitter and explained that he is currently busy working on the “Suicide Squad.”

After he was asked to leave by Disney, Gunn was hired to direct the “Suicide Squad” sequel that is coming out in 2021.

Although Gunn is currently focused on the DC film, he has confirmed that he is committed to “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” The director emphasized that the Marvel film is in development, but he didn’t share any more details.

Gunn may have crossed over to DC for “Suicide Squad,” but it doesn’t means that the fans will get to see the characters from Marvel cross over. The direct made it clear that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will not be a part of the DC film he is directing.

Responding to another fan on social media, Gunn recently talked about the timeline of the next film. The director said that the events in the next “Thor” film happen before his movie, CBR reported.

How much of the work for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” has already been done? Gunn finished the first draft of the script last year. The film is set to be released in 2021, and more details may be released when the production starts in the coming months.
