Jennifer Lopez slammed the media in her newly-dropped Netflix documentary, "Halftime," for focussing more on her personal appearance and life rather than on her career. Lopez also shared how people used to think she is the "punchline" or a "joke" because of her body curves.

"I grew up around women with curves, so it was nothing ever I was ashamed of," the 52-year-old singer said in the documentary, ETCanada reported Tuesday.

The singer noted that in the old days the ideal beauty standards were "very thin, blonde, tall, not a lot of curves," before adding: "It was hard when you think people think you’re a joke — like, you’re a punchline. But I wound up affecting things in a way that I never intended to affect them."

Lopez recalled how media portrayed her as if she "wasn't any good."

"I really believed a lot of what they said, which is I wasn’t any good," the singer explained. "That I wasn’t a good singer, I wasn’t a good actress, I wasn’t a good dancer. I wasn’t good at anything. I just didn’t even belong here. Why wouldn’t I just go away?"

The "Marry Me" star admitted that there were times when she thought of quitting showbiz. "There were many times where I was like, ‘I think I’m just gonna quit.’ I had to really figure out who I was and believe in that and not believe anything else," she added.

"Halftime" started streaming on Netflix on Tuesday. Lopez had on May 18 dropped the trailer of the documentary on Twitter. It shared a glimpse of her dance practices, red carpet appearances, and magazine covers.

In the documentary, Lopez has also discussed the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which she headlined with Shakira.

"If it was going to be a double-headliner, they should have given us 20 minutes. That's what they should've f--king done," the singer said as she performed with Shakira for 12 minutes.

Considering her future projects, Lopez will be next seen in the movies like "The Mother," "Shotgun Wedding," "The Godmother" and "Atlas."
