Robert Pattinson has revealed that he thought of quitting the profession of acting after his audition for the “Twilight” movies did not go as expected.

Speaking with Kristien Gijbels for the podcast Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) In Conversation, the 33-year-old actor, who shot to fame with the “Twilight” franchise, confessed that his confidence took a major dent when he could not perform his best during the auditions and called his parents that he is done with acting.

Pattinson, who will next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet,” recalled that particular moment and shared that his agent told him to take his guitar into the audition. The actor later admitted that bringing a guitar with him was probably the “worst decision” he ever made in his entire life and further added that as soon as the people sitting on the panel started to ask him questions about the guitar, his confidence faded away.

“I just walked in and they were like, ‘Oh. You brought a guitar. Do you want to play us a song,’ and I was like, ‘No. This is the worst decision I ever made.’ I was saying no and they were like, ‘You just brought a guitar into just to hold it? Why did you bring a guitar in?’ My confidence just s—t the bed,” Pattinson said.

As soon as Pattinson came out of the audition room, he called his parents to tell them that he is “done” with acting and cannot torture himself anymore. He considered turning back on his dream career.

Eventually, he got the role of Edward Cullen in the highly-successful franchise. He portrayed the lead role in all the five films – “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” and “Breaking Dawn: Part 1 & 2,” that accumulated more than $3 billion at the global box office while taking Pattinson’s popularity to greater heights.

The “Good Time” star also shared some details about his time on the set of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” He noted that it was such an amazing experience for him to be working in an environment that was “very friendly” and all the kids were treated really nicely on the set.

“It was a really nice environment on Harry Potter. It felt like a very friendly family environment,” Pattinson said.

Pattinson will now be a part of another big project since he will be portraying the character of famous comic-book character Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming project “The Batman.” Ben Affleck was the last actor to wear the iconic Batsuit for the big screen in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and 2017’s “Justice League.”

The social media response was quite divided when it was announced that Pattinson will be portraying the role of the Dark Knight in the upcoming movie. In a recent interview with Variety, the 33-year-old actor shared that he was not fazed by the people who doubt and hate him.

Zoe Kravitz will be portraying the character of Catwoman while it was recently confirmed that Andy Serkis will be playing Alfred Pennyworth in the highly-anticipated movie. On the other hand, Paul Dano is all set to become The Riddler.

The first in the trilogy, “The Batman” is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 25, 2021.
