Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton predicts President Trump won’t go “silently into the night” if he loses his reelection bid.

In remarks Thursday at the 19th Represents Summit, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said she’s not trying to scare people.

“I have every reason to believe that Trump is not going to go silently into the night if he loses,” Clinton said. “He’s going to try to confuse us. He’s going to try to bring all kinds of lawsuits.”

During the 2016 election campaign, Trump laid the groundwork for a challenge, constantly complaining the system was rigged. Clinton beat him by 3 million votes in the popular count but Trump won the Electoral College.

Trump, who is trailing presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in polls, has been trying to cast doubt on the integrity of the Nov. 3 election.

He recently suggested postponing balloting until the coronavirus threat has dissipated and questioning the viability of widespread mail-in voting even though studies indicate there’s no widespread fraud in such elections and no advantage for either political party.

Louis DeJoy, Trump’s newly appointed postmaster general, has been altering post office operations in ways that already have slowed mail delivery, ramping up fears the post office will be unable to handle the surge in mail widespread absentee voting would produce.

Trump said Thursday he would veto any standalone legislation that provides funds for the post office, whose finances are hamstrung by requirements it prefund pensions and healthcare. Earlier in the day he admitted he was withholding funds to prevent universal mail-in voting.

But, he said Friday, he would be open to providing funds for the post office if Democrats dropped demands for money for cash-strapped state and local governments as part of the next round of coronavirus stimulus.

Trump has indicated he might not accept the results of the election in an interview with Fox News.

Comedian Bill Maher has been predicting for months Trump would refuse to leave the White House if he is defeated.
