Is there a way to redeem “House of Cards” Season 6 in light of lead star Kevin Spacey’s sexual harassment allegations? The show’s producers are scrambling to get production back on track, and one of the solutions they have come up with is to just kill off his character, Frank Underwood.

Last season, Frank’s wife Claire (Robin Wright) has taken over the reins of the White House. Insiders told Variety that producers are thinking of sealing the deal and letting her move forward without her power-hungry husband.

“House of Cards,” which is produced by Media Rights Capital (MRC), was placed in a tight spot after actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexual misconduct dating back to 1986.

Netflix and MRC cancelled the show and halted production for Season 6 because of this, but things got even more complicated after several employees came forward and told CNN that Spacey made life on set a “toxic work environment” because of his “predatory” behavior.

One crew member said that Spacey “would put his hands on me in weird ways,” including massaging his shoulders and touching his stomach. A former production assistant claimed that Spacey put his hands down his pants without consent while he was driving the actor to the set. Later, Spacey cornered him and touched him inappropriately.

However, Netflix and MRC are trying to be considerate of the 300 cast and crew behind the show, who would lose their jobs if the sixth season does not push through.

“We are deeply troubled to learn about these new allegations that are being made to the press concerning Kevin Spacey’s interaction with members of the crew of ‘House of Cards.’ As the producer of the show, creating and maintaining a safe working environment for our cast and crew has always been our top priority,” the company earlier said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“We have consistently reinforced the importance of employees reporting any incident without fear of retaliation and we have investigated and taken appropriate actions following any complaints,” the statement continued.

During their first year of production in 2012, a crew member complained about a specific remark and gesture made by Spacey. Netflix and MRC took immediate action after reviewing the situation, and they are confident the issue was resolved “promptly to the satisfaction of all involved. Mr. Spacey willingly participated in a training process and since that time MRC has not been made aware of any other complaints involving Mr. Spacey.”
