Meghan Markle is often reported to be competing against Kate Middleton, but now it might be her and Sarah Ferguson who are competing—at least on bookshelves.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of York are both writing books. While Meghan, who gave birth to baby Archie in May, is working on a children’s book featuring her rescue dogs, Fergie is working on a young readers book that is more of a guide for life. It’ll deal with civility and social media.

The website reports that “it seems both Duchesses are determined to outdo each other when it comes to establishing their ‘woke’ credentials.”

Both have established their writing skills. Fergie, mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, has written over 25 titles. Meghan, meanwhile, has shown off her aptitude for writing on her former lifestyle blog The Tig, in the foreward of “Together: Our Community Cookbook” and in the September issue of British Vogue.

The difference between the Duchesses’ books is that only one is confirmed. Fergie has announced that Imogen Edwards-Jones will help her co-write. The Duchess of Sussex, however, has remained quiet while reports have circulated.

The Sun noted that the subject matter is not set, though rescue dogs will likely be included. An insider told the outlet that an announcement won’t be made for a while.

“Meghan is going to become a published author and is very excited about it. The plans are in the very early stages and won’t be formally announced for some time,” the source said. “But she’s very excited about the possibility and is passionate about the idea of a work of fiction for children.”

The book will not include any real-life anecdotes about her life as a royal.
