Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson used to be very close. In fact, there were a couple of times where they vacationed with each other.

During one of their trips to Klosters, Switzerland in 1997, the two female royals decided to make a scene to capture the attention of their husbands and the cameramen. Michael Cole, a former BBC correspondent and the former director of Harrods, said that the Princess of Wales tried to show her sense of fun that time.

“Diana could rarely resist a bit of devilment. At a photocall in Switzerland, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of York had skied down to have a group photograph… The princess took one look and decided it was all far too tame,” he said.

Princess Diana told Ferguson that they should have a go at it. The two royals proceeded to band their hips and push each other as hard as they could. Their goal was to try to dump the other in the snow.

But Princess Diana and Fergie’s attempt at making the cameramen happy actually horrified their husbands, Prince Charles, and Prince Andrew, who was also there with them. At one point, the royal siblings even tried to break Princess Diana and Ferguson apart because they thought that they were actually fighting.

One of the throwback photos shows Ferguson having an upper hand on the Princess of Wales. The mom of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie is trying to push Princess Diana down the snow. Prince Charles and Prince Andrew are standing just a few feet away from their wives with shocked looks on their faces.

The fun moments between Princess Diana and Ferguson were quite short-lived. After a couple of years, the two stopped talking to each other. Princess Diana reportedly became jealous of Ferguson because of how she was loved by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Ferguson also said that she tried reaching out to Princess Diana. And before she died, the Princess of Wales had already asked her friend about Ferguson in an attempt to bury the hatchet.
