Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s request to become independent of Buckingham Palace was promptly shut down by Queen Elizabeth. However, a new report claims the monarch denied the couple’s move by reminding the Duchess of Sussex of her rank.

Lately, there have been several feud rumors suggesting Meghan and Prince Harry want to build their own brand separate from Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Despite their desire to branch off, the Australian TV show Sunrise claims Queen Elizabeth let her grandson’s wife know she wouldn’t allow a “dramatic” split in the royal family. “Royal sources say the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now want to go one step further and act independently from the Palace,” the report revealed.

“The Queen has been forced to pull rank and to pull Meghan into line after making a bold call to move away from the Cambridges.”

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam suggested the Queen’s reaction was necessary after Meghan gave her friends permission to speak about her in an interview. “Harry and Meghan are a remarkable, global, Royal brand, there’s no doubt about it and they are very independent people,” he explained.

“But the thing is we’ve seen recently Meghan briefing anonymous friends at People magazine, which I think was unwise, we also saw, however, how pressurized she’s been with the Twitter trolls which are obscene and also with her family behavior which is disgraceful,” Fitzwilliam added.

The royal commentator noted Queen Elizabeth’s decision to deny Meghan and Harry’s separation from Buckingham Palace comes “three or four years” after the monarch’s former press secretary attempted to put all of the royal press offices under one roof. The move was reportedly vetoed by Prince Charles.

Although Meghan and Prince Harry will move out of their cottage at Kensington Palace into the Frogmore House mansion in Windsor, their press office will remain at Buckingham Palace.
