Queen Elizabeth II uses a surprising technique to ensure that her diamond sparkles.

The Queen has a huge collection of jewelry. However, Her Majesty is very particular when it comes to making her diamonds sparkle. In fact, she has a surprising strategy to accomplish this and it was revealed by her longtime dresser Angela Kelly in her book “The Other Side of the Coin : The Queen, The Dresser and the Wardrobe.”

“A little gin and water come in handy to give the diamonds extra sparkle. Just don’t tell the jeweler!” Kelly wrote.

Kelly also shared how she gets the Queen ready for formal events. According to her, she lays out the monarch’s jewelry and diamond on a tray that belonged to Queen Mary.

Kelly also shared that Her Majesty loves bargain. In fact, when she was still working for her, she would regularly check out the “bargain basket” when she looked for fabric for the monarch’s next gown. She also recalled an incident when she almost missed her flight for claiming a tax back on fabric she purchased for the monarch in Singapore.

“I shouted over the plane’s engine a phrase I’m sure the Queen does not hear very often, ‘I’ve got your tax back!” Kelly wrote. “The look on the Queen’s face was priceless as I handed her the tax refund.”

In related news, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be joining Queen Elizabeth II and the other members of the royal family this Christmas. Royal correspondent Omid Scobie confirmed this on Twitter when he shared the statement from Buckingham Palace.

According to Scobie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be extending their vacation in California and will spend the holidays with Markle’s mom Doria Ragland. Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly supportive of the couple’s decision.

However, according to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Queen Elizabeth II was hurt with her grandsons’ decision. But the monarch is too gracious to let her disappointments show.
