A family in New South Wales, Australia, was shocked to find a huge python in their home shed just weeks after their pet cat went missing. According to Yahoo News Australia, the homeowner believes the massive snake ate their Persian blue Russian cat, named Bubbles.

A video showed a snake catcher struggling to remove the huge python from the shed. Homeowner Fiona Maguire spoke to the media Tuesday, saying their pet cat had been part of the family for eight years and “never missed a dinner.” They had been searching for the feline for weeks but found no clues as to its whereabouts.

Maguire said she was in her shed recently when she received the shock of her life after she spotted the massive snake.

“I got about 10 jabs in and saw something out of the corner of my eye. I looked up and saw this enormous diamond python uncurling,” she said, adding: “My heart rate went up so fast." Maguire described the experience as “downright terrifying.”

Maguire told Yahoo News Australia the family immediately called a snake catcher, who after much struggling, succeeded in removing the snake from their home shed.

“The snake was not impressed and did not want to leave,” Maguire said.

Diamond pythons, also sometimes referred to as carpet pythons, have a distinctive pattern of a black background with cream or yellow spots and blotches. They are restricted to the coastal areas of New South Wales.

According to Australian Reptile Park's website, large diamond pythons often take domestic pets such as a small cat or dog or even rabbits and guinea pigs as their meals.

In another recent incident in Australia, a mother was terrified to find a massive python curled underneath a child's bed at her family's Sunrise Beach home in Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The family immediately called a local snake catcher to remove the reptile from the house. Luke Huntley from Snake Catcher Noosa posted a video on their Facebook page showing him initially trying to pick up the giant reptile with his bare hands. However, he later used a snake hook to avoid getting bitten.
