A four-feet-long python was discovered in the back porch of a couple’s home who "couldn’t believe it." The incident occurred in Riverwest neighborhood, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday.

The couple, Chandra and Gary Lee, initially thought someone was playing a prank on them but as they paid more attention to the texture and movement, they realized the snake was real. The python had curled into a black ball in the dirt lying on their back porch.

“I am picking up screws and I look down, and I’m thinking it’s a play snake, so I back up, and I’m looking, I’m looking and I’m seeing the eyes move,” said Gary.

He added that the snake, “was big and it was long”. The python is not native to the area and it wasn’t clear if the snake had wandered into their porch or was left there by someone. Both Gary and Chandra were confused and scared to do anything, so they took their neighbor’s help.

Chandra said she had "never seen anything like it." The reptile was eventually taken away by the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission officials to a safer spot.

“Yes -- the most excitement that I've had in a long time,” added Chandra. Gary said, “I couldn’t believe it, but I’m like ‘This here is a snake’.”

The incident comes days after a technician was taken by surprise when he found a ball python hiding inside the outdoor unit of an AC in Gulfport, Mississippi. The technician, Conner Smith, was visiting the house for regular maintenance when he found the reptile hiding inside the unit. Smith said it was not uncommon for him to find snakes as “Reptiles like to get in there because it's warm. It's just something we face, just part of the job." One of Smith’s colleagues, who knew a bit about snakes, told him the reptile was a baby ball python, almost a year old. The technicians ensured the snake’s safety and left it at an animal refuge.
