India’s number one software services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has opened a business process outsourcing facility in the Philippines following the path of India-based BPO companies which have operations in that country, Indian financial news daily The Economic Times reported.

The new facility is located at Manila and will give TCS access to a pool of skilled talent available in Philippines, which is the world’s second largest BPO destination after India.

The TCS centre will have an initial capacity for around 400 employees.

“TCS wants to participate wherever there is a market and wherever there is talent. China and Philippines are two countries where talent is available,” Vish Iyer, Asia-Pacific head of TCS was quoted as saying.

The BPO sector in the Philippines employs 450,000 people and is a $9 billion industry. The industry is projected to grow to around $25 billion by 2016, according to the Business Process Association of the Philippines.
