The iPhone SE is considered to be one of Apple’s most underrated yet powerful mobile phones to date. It was a surprising addition to the Cupertino giant’s lineup, so it was a bit disappointing that there’s been no follow-up to the phone for the last three years since it was launched.

But if recent news from reliable sources is any indication, it seems like the tech giant has finally decided to release the iPhone SE 2.

According to a report from DigiTimes, Apple is planning to launch a line of smaller iPhones which many analysts perceive to be the next iPhone SE. Based on the report, the tech company is set to release a mobile phone that’s only 5.42-inches which is definitely smaller compared to current iPhone models and only a tad larger than the first SE.

Some are speculating that the additional half inch was to make way for a model that’s bezel-less and home button-less like the existing line. And like the SE, let’s not judge this upcoming iPhone for its size.

The report said that this mini iPhone will also have an OLED display that can either be fitted with Samsung Display's Y-Octa or LG Display's TOE touch technology.

Now, this is where the new phone will probably differ from the original SE. The phone launched back in March 2016 wasn’t only powerful, it was fairly affordable as well. However, should the new phone sport the Samsung display (a feature which seems legit based on some leaks), then the iPhone SE 2 will no longer be considered a budget device.

Aside from the supposed SE 2, it seems downgrading iPhone sizes will also be the trend for next year’s iPhone line-up. DigiTimes also mentioned smartphones with 6.06-inch and 6.67-inch display sizes. These seem to be pointing to slightly smaller iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max, respectively.

Aside from these three, the iPhone X Fold, Apple’s answer to the foldable market trend, is also expected to make its commercial introduction. It seems the year 2020 is going to be an exciting one for Apple.
