iRobot Corp announced on Tuesday it has received $6.9 million in new orders from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) as well as the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

NAVSEA has ordered additional iRobot PackBot robots and spare parts valued at $3 million, while NAVAIR has order parts and PackBot robots valued at #3.9 million.

"PackBot is gaining increasingly wider acceptance in the military, and we are proud of the important role it plays in saving the lives of U.S. service men and women,' said Vice Admiral Joe Dyer (U.S. Navy, Ret.), president of iRobot Government and Industrial Robots. "iRobot is committed to quickly delivering on these orders to meet the growing demand for robots from soldiers in combat situations.'

To date, iRobot has delivered more than 700 PackBot robots to a broad range of military and civilian customers worldwide.
