Liv (Rose McIver) becomes a hot mess in Season 3, episode 6 of “iZombie.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, Liv helps Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) solve the murder of an irresponsible narcissist by consuming the victim’s brain. Although Liv starts manifesting the brain owner’s chaotic and disorganized personality, the assistant medical examiner is able to maintain an undeniable attractiveness, making her a literal hot mess.

In the trailer for the episode, a woman who seems to be close to the victim describes the person as “messy, self-centered, dramatic … party all-night type.”

Liv and Clive also visit the victim’s go-to club, in which a man who appears to be working there tells the crime-solving duo that he finds the victim “annoying” and “always flirting.”

While the motive of the victim’s killer remains unclear, Liv tells Ravi (Rahul Kohli) in the preview clip that she thinks the victim was “killed for being awesome.”

During Comic Book Resources’ visit to the Vancouver set of “iZombie,” McIver said that the “hot mess” brain is one of her favorite brains this season. The actress said that the personality that comes with the said brain is in the vein of Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck” character. “[She] can’t remember where she’s left anything, hasn’t got anything together,” McIver said of her character after consuming the “hot mess” brain. “I didn’t expect that to be as easy to play as it was! It’s been a confronting season.”

Also in the episode, Peyton (Aly Michalka) learns some shocking news. It’s unclear what exactly this shocking news is, but since Peyton has been spending most of her time with Blaine (David Anders), it’s possible that it may have something to do with him.

In last night’s Season 3, episode 5, Ravi confirmed to Liv that the memory restoration serum didn’t work for Blaine. But what if the serum takes more time before it works? If that ends up being the case, then Peyton is probably the first one to discover that Blaine actually gets his memory back.

It’s also possible that the shocking news may be related to Peyton’s job as assistant district attorney. Viewers haven’t seen much of Peyton in her workplace since Season 3 began, so perhaps next week’s episode finds Liv’s best friend back to her place of work.

The synopsis for episode 6 also reveals that Ravi is going to experience a major setback. Could this major setback be the thing that will lead Ravi to an undercover mission this season?

“Ravi has his own investigation that takes him out of the group completely,” Kohli teased to TVLine last month. “He’s far enough away from everything that he’s anonymous. So he’s able to be a little bit more incognito than the other characters [in Team Z].”

“Going deeper into the season, we give Ravi his own adventure … where he kind of gets to prove his mettle as the season moves on,” executive producer Rob Thomas told TV Guide ahead of the Season 3 premiere. “I know that Rahul, the actor, was thrilled with what Ravi got to do this season. I was happy to get him out of the lab this season.”

“iZombie” Season 3, episode 6, titled “Some Like It Hot Mess,” airs on Tuesday, May 9 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
