Shenae Grimes is returning to The CW!

Grimes, who portrayed Annie Wilson on the network’s teen drama series “90210,” will appear in Season 3, episode 7 of “iZombie.” According to TVLine, Grimes is playing the jealous girlfriend of a dead preschool teacher known for his womanizing ways. Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) and Liv’s (Rose McIver) investigation on the murder reportedly gets “interesting” when Grimes’ character is brought in for questioning.

Grimes’ guest spot on the rom-com-zom-dram marks her first appearance on The CW since “90210” ended its five season run on the network in May 2013. Grimes’ “iZombie” appearance also reunites her with Rob Thomas, who she had worked with on “90210.” Thomas co-created “90210” with Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, and co-developed “iZombie” with Diane Ruggiero-Wright.

Since “90210” wrapped, Grimes has starred in several TV movies, including “The Hazing Secret,” “Christmas Incorporated,” “Sandra Brown’s White Hot,” “Date with Love,” “Newlywed and Dead” and “The Mechanics of Love.”

In a recent post on her personal blog, Grimes explained why she took a couple of years off from pursuing roles on any TV series and how that decision has transformed her as she re-enters the TV arena this year.

“I took a two year break after a consecutive decade-long run on two TV shows [‘90210’ and ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’] to mentally gather myself, live a little and regain a fresh perspective,” she wrote. “While I’m glad I did [it] for my personal growth, it certainly made re-entering entertainment more difficult than it would have been had I continued on my streak of success.”

“Lucky for me, I decided to start 2017 stronger, better, wiser and more positive than ever before and was determined to not let internal or external negativity hold me back,” she continued. “I believe perspective is a choice and it’s typically the most important one you can make. I chose to start the year with a perspective that would allow me to push myself out of my comfort zone, put the work in and leave the ego out of the equation. What that looked like for me was signing up for an acting class, something I’ve never done before.”

Because of her more positive and risk-taking perspective in life, Grimes landed a role on a TV series. But it’s unclear whether this is her part on “iZombie” or a completely different role on a different series.

“Now, I’ll tell ya … it may be coincidence but methinks not … I booked a new TV series,” she wrote. “But that was just the icing on the cake! The real victory was that I had an incredibly positive experience both professionally and personally this pilot season and my positive perspective could very well be behind all of the above! … I survived pilot season with a smile on my face and in my world, that is a mission accomplished and certainly a reason to #WalkWithPride!”

“iZombie” Season 3, episode 7 airs on Tuesday, May 16 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
