Actor Jason Momoa has seen his career catapult over the past four years but the 41-year-old actor recently admitted that after his well-liked character was killed off of “Game of Thrones" it was difficult to land roles.

Momoa played Khal Drogo in Season 1 of “Game of Thrones” in 2011, though his character only lasted 11 episodes. After his exit from the hit HBO show, his career hit a long snag.

Momoa ultimately landed big roles in blockbusters like “Aquaman,” but it was a long wait to get there.

“I mean, we were starving after ‘Game of Thrones.’ I couldn’t get work. It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt," he told InStyle.

Being cast in “Justice League” as Aquaman in 2016 was his saving grace, which later led to his own “Aquaman” movie.

Before Momoa landed the superhero role, his life had plenty of ups and downs. Momoa said his childhood was difficult due to his mixed-race background. He was bullied as a student in Iowa for being different and liking unconventional things at the time, like Birkenstocks.

He would move to Hawaii and got a break on “Baywatch Hawaii.” But roles were hard to find after the series ended. Momoa claims he couldn’t even find an agent for a few years.

Things have markedly improved. His Apple TV+ series, “See,” is shooting its second season and he stars in the film "Dune," which will be released in 2021.

Momoa also co-produced and stars in the upcoming action film, "Sweet Girl."
